Bookbits for 18 February 2016
Well, Bookbit #1 is of course that an 8th Harry Potter book is forthcoming, and soon, too! It’s not a “book”book, really, it’s the script of the upcoming play put into book form but that hasn’t stopped a single Muggle heart from beating faster. As soon as we have more details, and a way for you to reserve a copy, we will let you know!
- New poems by J. R. R. Tolkien have resurfaced in a 1936 school newspaper.
- Lists! Top 10 Arctic Novels (that’s 10 books I’ll be avoiding until mid-summer, then… 😉 ), Top 10 English Translations (somewhat old list accidentally stumbled upon, but excellent nonetheless), 25 Excellent Novels About Americans Abroad.
- Quiz! Oops, Valentine’s Day has been and gone, but it’s still a lot of fun to take the Guardian’s Declarations of Love in Literature quiz. I actually did quite well: 9/12. Can you beat me?
- Fans of Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan novels, start getting excited: they’re apparently being developed for TV. Absolutely no other news beyond that, but still…
- For those of you who love a bit of fanfic.
How to make a Weasley clock. It’s a bit tricky, but thankfully the instructions are illustrated… O.o (Image: Trey Bagley)
- And finally: a Misery’s Return mock-up for the Stephen King fans. 🙂 I have to say, Mr. King rather resembles Mr. Lowe, don’t you agree? (For the book nerds: this is the “second” (inside) cover to a paperback edition of Misery – but I can’t recover from which edition, sorry!):
