Every once in a while, some magic happens in our stores, and we receive heartwarming feedback, personal stories or support. The following message reached us from a loyal customer. It’s just one example where we are thrilled to connect readers with writers.

Dear Kaffe Fassett,

I really do have to share this story with you.
Already for quite a few years, I’ve been enjoying your colorful creativity on many levels—buying your books, reading about your extraordinary life with your parents at Nepenthe [a café on California’s Big Sur coast] and following your creative adult life.
A few years ago, I even started out to visit Nepenthe, but you know how things go…
Now follows the story I really want to share.
Last year, my daughter bought a house in Rotterdam. In her small terrace garden, there grew a magenta and white rose she did not like.

Well,” I said, “give it to me! Don’t throw it away.”
Last September, I planted it in my garden, and this June, it began to bloom. And how it was blooming! I love it.
I am a frequent visitor of ABC Amsterdam, which I know from its start when it was called the American Discount Shop.
Seeing your book In the Studio there recently, I treated myself to a copy.
Browsing through it, I saw a picture of my beautiful rose, which was named the Kaffe Fassett. I was flabbergasted!
Now, I am enjoying my rose even more.
Didn’t Gertrude Stein say: “A rose is a rose is a rose”?
Dear Kaffe Fassett, thank you for being Kaffe Fassett and sharing your creations with the world.
