"A disillusioned millennial ghostwriter who, quite literally, has some ghosts of her own, has to find her way back home in this sparkling adult debut from national bestselling author Ashley Poston."

Written by Lília

Florence Day is a ghostwriter for one of the most prolific romance authors in the industry and has a problem: she can’t finish her latest book because, in her heart, romance is dead. Her new editor won’t extend her deadline, and she thinks her career is also dead because she can’t meet it.

Then tragedy strikes, and she needs to go back home to a city that never dealt well with her “gift.” Florence sees and talks to ghosts. She starts seeing the infuriatingly handsome editor, and he seems as confused as she is. She slowly falls in love with her editor-ghost, who keeps disappearing.

Florence will need to learn to deal with all the ghosts in her life, her career and, most certainly, the ghosts in her head and her heart. Will she ever learn that romance is not dead, even if the person you love might be?

This is an emotional read, yet quite gentle in approaching death and dealing with it. Florence and her family are used to death since they own a funeral parlor, but dealing with the death of someone close to you is not the same thing. Florence needs to accept that life goes on, that all her ghosts need to be dealt with and that she cannot ignore the most obvious one: life needs to be lived by the living.

The romance progresses slowly, as Florence and her ghost help each other deal with their predicament. Florence needs to finish her book and write about her father, and her dead editor needs to accept his new lot. I love all the death and ghost puns Ashley Poston uses throughout the book; it’s never too much. This book is a homage to love in all its forms, making the case that we should live our lives as we see fit, with courage in our hearts.
