As a bookseller, you see loads of books coming in and going out of the store every day. We can tell you with certainty: this is a good source for all kinds of contemplations and conversations! But also dealing with customers, or even plain equipment, has been inspirational for some of these staff quotes. Below are staff quotes overheard and collected at our stores, offering some bookish and not so bookish wisdom for your everyday life.
Part 2: Helping Customers

Customer asks: “Can I ask you a question?”
Colleague answers: “You can always ask. I might even have an answer.”

One colleague, warning the other staff members:
“This customer remembers everything about each colleague. Please be mindful of what you tell her.”
Another one answers: “You can tell her I am from Transylvania, I don’t like mirrors, and I don’t eat garlic bread.”
3.
Customer comes to the cash register and hands a book to the colleague behind the register:
“Deze graag, het is een cadeau voor een vriend. Kun je hem inpakken?” (This one please, it is a present for a friend. Do you gift-wrap?”)
