Books continue to be excellent source material, and the second half of this year promises a lot of exciting adaptations! Below is just a selection of what you will soon be able to watch on the small or big screen.
Love Me Tender by Constance Debré
The movie adaptation of Constance Debré’s auto-fiction novel premiered at 2025 Cannes Film Festival, but will be showing at movie theaters in the Netherlands from the end of May. Check out our Instagram-account for a chance to win two film tickets and a copy of the book! Giveaway ends May 20th.
Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
The Little House series has already been made into a TV series, in 1974, but to Netflix that means it’s time for a remake! The 2026 adaptation will follow the books more closely, so it might be more of a re-imagination than a reboot. A second season has already been confirmed, so be sure to check the show out this July.
Heartstopper Volume 6 by Alice Oseman
The beloved TV series Heartstopper will conclude with a feature length film, Heartstopper Forever. The film was written by Alice Oseman, and is an adaptation of the 6th volume of the graphic novels, which will also release in July. You can preorder it here!
The Odyssey by Homer
The Odyssey is a classic, and Christopher Nolan has adapted this epic fantasy to the big screen. It features an all-star cast, who will bring this impressive story to life. Filming has not been without controversy and there has been lots of speculation surrounding this project. You can judge it for yourself in July.
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
This one technically doesn’t have a release date yet, but the actors have been steadily teasing the movie adaptation of Ali Hazelwoods debut. Filming has wrapped in 2025, so a Summer 2026 release seems likely. Fingers crossed!
Verity by Colleen Hoover
Colleen Hoover also has quite a few titles that have been adapted or will be adapted, and Verity is up next, in November. It’s a psychological thriller, produced by and starring Anne Hathaway (who will also produce and star in the wildly popular Yesteryear).
Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
Coming in November is the sixth movie in the Hunger Games franchise! Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is a sequel to Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and a prequel to The Hunger Games. This promises to be another exciting installment in the movie series.
Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert
The Dune movie trilogy will be concluded in December, with Dune: Part Three. Director Dennis Villeneuve will adapt the very dense book Dune Messiah, to bring the story to a close.
