Roll for initiative!
Last Thursday, our store in the Hague hosted its first Dungeons and Dragons game night in collaboration with Dobbelgangers, a group of Dungeon Masters dedicated to bring the magic to wherever they go.
For those who are new to the role playing games scene, Dungeons and Dragons (or D&D in short) is in its essence an interactive adventure game. Each player creates their own character, be it an elf or a dwarf, a fighter or a bard, good or evil, to undertake a fantastical adventure led by a game master (also called a dungeon master). The many twists and turns of the story and the success of each character’s actions are determined by the roll of the dice and the game master. A combination of storytelling, social interaction, luck, and (usually) well-intentioned chaos, it’s a tabletop style role playing game that has fueled imaginations for decades.
The event kicked off on Thursday evening with four groups of adventurers, consisting of many newbies and a few more seasoned players, as they took on a vicious vampire, conducted a daring prison escape, or dove into the Critical Role world. Fueled by drinks, snacks, and the survival instinct of our heroes, the campaigns went on in full force, drawing laughs and facepalms, with critical hits and natural 1s.
Want to join us for the next adventure? Keep your eyes peeled for future events like this on our events page and social media accounts.
Until then, may the dice always roll in your favor.
