July might just be over, but we’ll be celebrating 250 years since Jane Austen was born all year long! We’ve already done a deep dive into Jane Austen’s enduring popularity in this blogpost, and we looked at many, many, many retellings of her books here.

All of Jane Austen’s work is in the public domain, which means her copyright has expired. That is why there can be so many different editions and covers of her books. Pride and Prejudice was first published in 1813, and in the 212 years (!) since, it has had lots of different looks.
