Puzzle books and magazines are always very popular in the summer months, when people have more time off. Maybe they want to keep their brains active, or they just want a fun way to pass the time. Our puzzle books always sell better this time of year, but we had not anticipated how popular Murdoku would be. Neither did the publisher, because the book went into reprint very quickly. If you’ve been looking for Murdoku and we were sadly sold out, or you’ve solved all the puzzles and want more, here are some other murder mystery-themed puzzle books to embrace your inner sleuth!

Before Murdoku, there was Murdle. Both logic puzzle books became massively popular because of BookTok, but they’re not quite the same. Each Murdle volume (and there are quite a few entries into the series by now, no need to worry you’ll run out of puzzles any time soon) has an overarching storyline. Every puzzle you solve brings you more of the story. Murdoku on the other hand is a collection of standalone puzzles in a theme, but with no greater story or plot.

Below are some other murder mystery logic puzzles, where you figure out who the killer is based on textual clues:

Not in the mood for a logic puzzle? There are plenty of other murder mystery themed puzzles. How about word search puzzles? Rosie A. Point has lots of series of cozy word search mysteries, set in cozy small towns. Each book has a plot, with a chapter in the murder mystery and a word search puzzle alternating.

The Killer Isn’t Alice is another candidate for a bestselling puzzle book. It was originally self-published and has recently been picked up by a traditional publisher, making it available in book stores for the first time! This new Updated Edition has different names and killers from the Original (self-published) Edition.

This first-of-its-kind, immersive logic puzzle is easy to grasp and impossible to put down. This is a pure test of logic, observation, and deduction.

Do you prefer a more story-telling approach to your murder mysteries? Do you want to feel like you are in the story? Then interactive crime novels are the puzzles for you! These are choose-your-own-story books, where you get to decide where the investigation goes next at the end of every chapter. Every choice you make can bring you closer to catching the killer, or you can doom the investigation before it even begins…

Go forth and embrace your inner sleuth!
