A couple of months ago, the ABC started to sell books at our local reading club Prose Posse. They have meetings about once a month at different locations in Amsterdam. In October they will even have a meeting at the ABC Amsterdam. We make a fun selection of books, either in the theme of the night (i.e. fantasy) or just fiction we are passionate about. The previous editions have all been staffed by Matty, but on Tuesday the 26th the theme was Fantasy, so I demanded that I’d get to go, put together a selection of books, and be there to nerd about Fantasy. It is one of my favorite genres after all.
So I put together a fun list of Fantasy and Romantasy titles that I am excited about, and because it was the release date of Katabasis by R.F. Kuang, I also packed some of those. Off I went to the Hotel Arena to set up a nice book display and nerd out about Fantasy.
The atmosphere was amazing, loads of people showed up to read, to interact, and chat about books, to meet their new best friends, and their new favorite book. I got to spend my evening talking about Fantasy books with all kinds of people, and apparently people liked my enthusiasm (what, me, enthusiastic? About BOOKS? Who would’ve thought?). All in all, it was a great evening of reading and chatting and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
