This holiday season, we are raising funds for Nationaal Fonds Kinderhulp. This is a Dutch organization that supports children and young people up to 21 years old in the Netherlands who are growing up in poverty. Through their Kinderzwerfboek project, started in 2010, they help bring books to children who have limited access to reading resources.
As an independent, family-owned bookstore, ABC strongly believes that children of all ages deserve to discover the magic of getting lost in a good book. Reading helps language development, and has been shown to promote curiosity, empathy, and social skills. It can also provide a crucial escape from reality.

We’re supporting the Kinderzwerfboek project in two ways, and we’d love your help:
- In the second week of December (week 50, this week), we’re accepting donations of children’s books in all three of our stores. These will be passed on to Nationaal Fonds Kinderhulp. Please make sure that any donated books are clean, complete, and in good condition. ABC will also be adding books to the donation pile.
- We’re collecting donations throughout December. You can donate through our fundraiser page, or by scanning the QR codes that are up in our stores. Any amount is welcome, and ABC is matching the first €250. We’re hoping to raise at least €2,000 before the end of the year.
