There are so many romance podcasts out there! You can listen to readers ranting about their preferred romance authors, romance authors talking about new and old titles or even to new romantic novellas. If you can’t decide what to tune into, here are my top 7 romance podcasts to try, in no particular order.
1. FATED MATES
The hosts—author Sarah MacLean and romance critic Jen Prokop—talk about different topics related to romantic fiction, but they also tackle issues such as book banning in the US, give their support to the LGBTQ+ community and mention loads of titles related to the podcast’s subject. Really good.
Kate and Mikayla rant very openly about smut; if you like this kind of romance, then this podcast is a treat. They are both funny, don’t shy away from what some would call “dirty words,” and they bring up many romantic recommendations of the smutty kind. Kate hosts Romantically Inclined Podcast – RIP – which was public until January 2023, when it migrated to the paying patrons of Patreon, Luckily, the rest of us can still find her on Up the Smut with the equally hilarious Mikayla. Fun.
Hosted by authors Alexa Riley – a duo of sassy friends and both authors of erotic romance. Besides bringing out a new, original audio book novella every week from one of their many favorite authors, they also talk about anything and everything romance novel-related.
Hosted by Kelly Reynolds, this is a “weekly podcast that asks novice romance readers to think outside the (dick in a) box.” Kelly regularly interviews authors and dares to talk about erotic romance and everything Pride. Really interesting.
5. NOT YOUR MOM’S ROMANCE BOOK CLUB
Hosted by a mother-daughter duo, “Ellen and Mom” talk about romance novels in an open, funny, swoony and often awkward way. And it totally works.
Hosted by Sara and Courtney, two librarians who discuss vintage and not-so-old books on their preferred themes: from monster romance to the romantic change of direction that took place in the 90s—and everything in between. They comment on title choice, the fact that some descriptions don’t encompass the reality of their stories and how the world of romance novels has changed.
Hosted by Jess and Trisha, When in Romance is an enthusiastic biweekly romance podcast dedicated to romance novel news and romance book recommendations. The hosts don’t shy away from controversial topics such as how racism impacts sports romance publishing. They also pay tribute to old authors, talk about new book clubs and rank the most influential romance novels that have come out in the last decade. Worth listening to.
