We decided to play the Q&A game with the ABC staff, and asked all sorts of bookish questions. In the coming weeks we will be posting their (sometimes cheeky!) answers here on the blog, so you can learn a little more about us.
Enjoy!
This time around we talk to Natalia, who till a couple of months ago worked at ABC and was the Romantic Fiction buyer in Amsterdam. She might not work at ABC anymore, but is still a very valued (ex-)colleague.
What are your top 3 favorite books or authors?
They change from time to time, but at the moment, my favorite authors are: V.E. Schwab, Becky Chambers and Emily Henry.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Fantasy, and anything with dragons and a cool magic system tickles my fancy. I also love to read Romance, especially with LGBTQ+ characters, but I’ve read plenty of “straight” romances as well.
In which literary world would you like to live/go on vacation?
I think I’d be a very happy Hobbit living in the Shire.
What is your favorite bookish animal?
They’re not real, sadly enough, but dragons! Dragons, dragons, dragons! But if I’d have to be realistic (no thank you), I’d say cats are my next favorite bookish animal.
Do you have any reading tips for our customers ?
Always bring a book with you, wherever you go. You can always squeeze in a couple of pages. Also, if you like to read with music playing in the background, I recommend choosing a playlist that fits the book’s setting (preferably instrumental only), like tavern music if you’re reading a (high-)fantasy book.
Which book changed your (look on) life?
The Power of Vulnerability by Brené Brown. I think the title says it all.
